I’ve purchased a display port to USB-C adapter to see if connecting the computer directly to the monitor and then adjusting the settings will allow me to then connect back through the surface dock. I’ll report back with my findings.

I guess the conclusion is micorosoft knew the new docks are UsB C so when the driver updates came out they removed any compatibility with Mini DP.
